Air Force Engineering Branch
Pilots fly the aircraft & engineers keep them available, safe, and effective—for every plane, radar system, missile, or machine, all the time.
Well, in a nutshell, you could say that the Engineering Branch is the heart of PAF’s tech & maintenance (MRO) system.
What is the Engineering Branch in PAF?
The Engineering Branch is made up of engineers who manage, repair, design, and maintain aircraft systems, radar technology, avionics, and machinery.
“They’re doing a lot more than just working on machines — they’re making sure the planes are always ready for defense and combat capabilities,” he added.
A PAF Engineer brings science, technology, and military precision to all that they do.
Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical / Avionics)
Primary Categories of Engineering in PAF. There are a number of technical services under the Engineering Branch. All of them are distinctive and have different roles and responsibilities:
Aeronautical Engg (Mechanical / Avionics)
Mechanical Engineers would be taking care of the engines, hydraulics, and all components of the partially working aircraft. Avionics Engineers work on radar, navigation, hardware, computer, and control systems. They perform directly on fighter aircraft like JF-17 Thunder, Mirage, F-16, etc.
Electrical Engineering
Overseeing power supply systems, control systems, and communication networks. Lead radar stations, ground equipment, and base power grids.
SOFTWARE & IT ENGINEERING
Automation, cybersecurity, and data management work. Support software, systems, and defense networks in the Air Force
Mechanical / Production
The engineering process, Vehicles, and tools for aircraft support need to be maintained. No hangar, repair shop, or mechanical installation will be allowed to muddle through.
PAF Engineer Responsibilities
The following is a list of commonly performed duties for PAF Engineers: PAF technology officers are both engineers and leaders. Their key responsibilities include: Spot checking the planes and systems; Flight and engine performance data analysis; Designing and upgrading aircraft components; Supervising repair and maintenance teams; Collaborating with the pilots and commanders in order to organise secure missions; Workshop/radar units and Ground systems, and establishing MPI as the default; Regulating for safety and engineering standards.
