What is a General Duty Pilot (GDP)

Their mission is to defend Pakistan’s airspace, conduct operations, and at the same time be ready for any national emergency.

Acting as a GDP doesn’t just mean piloting aircraft either; it involves mission planning, combat air strategy, and leadership. They are, if you will, leaders and protectors of the skies.

The Main Responsibilities of a GDP

A General Duty Pilot on every day of their career will be tasked with a number of critical responsibilities and learning experiences.

Here are the key responsibilities:

NATO Pilots fly fighter jets and transport planes, as well as helicopters, during times of peace and conflict.

National Defense: Guarding against threats to the country’s airspace and borders is their main job.

Training & Drills: Regular exercises of flight and ways to stay sharp and prepared.

Leading Crews: Pilots and other technical experts during missions.

Aviation OSHA & Maintenance: Aircraft must be flying right when they take off.

Co-ordination: Coordinating with engineers, radar teams, and ground staff for efficient functioning.

It is these duties that make their role “vexed and valued,” writes GDP.

Eligibility Criteria for GDP Jobs

Pakistan Air Force GDP Pilot Branch Eligibility Requirements. Interested candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by PAF to apply for the GDP pilot branch.

Gender: Male/Female (both can apply)

Nationality: Pakistani citizens only

Marital Status: Unmarried

AGE: 16 to 22 years (at the time of commencement of the course)

Height: At least 163 cm (5’4” )

Vision: Normal Vision- 6/6 in both eyes (without glasses)

Educational Qualification:

F.Sc (Pre-Engineering/ Pre-Medical/ Computer Science) with minimum 60% Marks;

Candidates having “A-Level” shall provide the equivalent certificate from the IBCC.;

Those waiting for results can also apply with a hope certificate.
